Andrea Thomas replies: "Well, let me just tell you what I know about that: a)myhusband's drill sargeant was airborne, and he wore the same uniform as all the other guys. b)the airborne guys in his company now wear the same thing, the only difference being the red beret (n/a in this pic because he has his kevlar on) and some medal or patch or something, but the same uniform. Here's another thing I have noticed about that; airborne guys are very, shall we say, proud of their status and love to flaunt it even when there's no reason (ie, the airborne guys here will probably never set foot in another airplane)Another thing I know is; I haven't been trained in military protocol. I don't know if they wear something different in battle. I don't know if I got the boots wrong (those boots are modeled after vietnam era jungle boots, btw) And lastly... I just like the cadence. I drew a generic soldier and called it 'airborne ranger' after the cadence. It's fantasy art. It's just art for that matter. I'm not here to catalogue military uniform, I'm here to convey ideas through a visual media. " | |
